My First Lipstick Story!
Growing up I saw one of my maternal aunt filling a dresser drawer with an array of make-up products, be it fake lashes or glitter nail paint, eyeliner bottles or glitter eyeshadows one just need to name it and she already had it. Whenever I'd get a chance to delve into her drawer I'd always root for the lipsticks. I still remember she had a ternion of lipsticks and my favorite was the glitter gold shade which smelled like Banana and tasted the same (hey!don't judge). Back then I'd always think to myself that one day even I'll have a drawer filled with an array of make-up products and it'd be a bigger collection than my hers, alhamdulilah I have achieved it today.
Fast forward a decade later it was Summer vacation and we didn't plan a vacation that year, so I got an opportunity to tutor my neighbor's kid on how to write cursive letters. After devoting 30 days replete hard-work and spending additional days to perfect the letter "K" which took way too much of time and energy. I finally received my payroll and the next thing I knew was, I stood in front of Sephora Villagio, that store is damn mystical though.
Back then Benefit had recently launched "They're Real! Double the Lip" collection which had dreamy ideal lip combos and my favorite was "Criminally Coral." I ran inside and met a staff told her "I'm here to buy a lipstick that comes in a silver color bottle it has two colors in one it is a lipstick plus lipliner but I forgot the brands name, it's called They're Real! tho" I repeated the same information quite a few times until it clicked to her that I was talking about Benefits newly launched collection, she guided me to the Benefit booth and told the lady that I want to buy a lipstick from the new collection. The representative asked me which shade was I looking for and without even batting an eye I told her 'Criminally Coral' but my happiness drained down in a moment as she didn't have the tester for it and I couldn't try it on before buying it.
She later suggested me to try on the other shades which were available with testers to try on. After swatching various shades on my wrist for a while, I accepted that I was fated to buy "Lusty Rose".
At the cash counter it was finally the payment time and I had carried the 250 bucks which I earned and the bill stated "95 Qatari Riyals" it felt so pleasing to pay the bill and to own that lipstick all by myself.
On our way back home I felt sophisticated as not only did I buy a lipstick I was longing for I even settled the bill all by myself.
This truly was my first lipstick that I ever earned and till today it holds a special place in my heart years later too.
Just as they say that the "First Time" is always special and its just not a mere incident its a treasured moment, a memory to be cherished on.
